What is considered community service?
  • In the Scholarships & Grants Department, we encourage students to consider organizations that are directly related to their passions and/or future career path. As a renewable scholarship student, please consider the long-term impact you could have through your community service work by the end of your educational journey with Bellevue University.
In past years, renewable scholarship students have completed hours within four primary categories: Health & Human Services, Education, Church/Religious Activities, and Community Events:

  • Health & Human Services – picking up litter/trash, sorting clothing and other goods at non-profits, organizing goods at food pantries, serving at animal shelters, providing childcare for vulnerable families, providing cleaning services, completing mailings for non-profits, serving food to homeless population, tracking inventory, etc.
  • Education – mentoring, tutoring, assisting teachers, etc.
  • Church/Religious Activities – regularly teaching religious courses, serving in a mentor role, assisting with religious events, etc.
  • Community Events – camp counselor, set-up/tear down at community functions, serving as a host/hostess at educational events, blood drives, fundraising walks/races, leadership events, etc.
