Professor Allen has over 25 years of public law enforcement and security experience in their respective fields as well as an educator. Professor Allen began his career with the Omaha Police Department and later joined the ranks on the state and federal levels as well. On the security level he was a special agent with the Union Pacific Railroad and later on became the director of security at ConAgra corporate campus.

Professor Allen began his career in law enforcement in 1971, which resulted in work at the local, state, and federal levels culminating as University. Professor Allen joined Bellevue University in 2004 as an assistant professor and academic program director of the Security Management programs, Emergency Management programs, both undergraduate and graduate levels. The programs offer both the in-class and online setting. The programs are endorsed by both the U.S. Strategic Command, A.S.I.S International, the Department of Defense, as well as the F.B.I. Professor Allen is also the Chair for the Academics and Training Council for A.S.I.S. International, as well as a local chair for student scholarships and job placement.
